Majdalawi Weaving (المجدلاوي): A historic Palestinian textile that is traditionally hand-woven on looms, and originating from the coastal city of Majdal. The fabric is distinct within Palestinian material culture, and defined by its bold geometric stripes in contrasting colours. After the Nakba in 1948, the tradition continued in Gaza, where their descendants have preserved it for more than 75 years.

• Road to Egypt (Tareeq Masir / طريق مصر): The central geometric band running parallel to the woven stripes. Historically representing the ancient coastal trade and travel route connecting Palestine to Egypt, symbolizing connection, journey, and heritage trade.

   

• Cypress Tree (Saru / سرو): Stitched in a vertical sequence along the navy body panels, the evergreen cypress tree symbolizes resilience, endurance, and deep roots in Palestinian soil.  

   

• Feather Border (Reesh / ريش): The angled feather-like trim framing the embroidery panels, adding softness and symbolizing grace and freedom.

• Dry Clean or Gentle Hand Wash: Hand wash separately in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent, or dry clean professionally.

• Ironing: Steam gentle creases out, or iron on the reverse side using a low heat setting with a protective cotton cloth.
