Living Heritage is our Resistance

On 15 May, we gather in remembrance and resilience. As Nakba Day marks a pivotal chapter in our history, we honour our collective memory by ensuring our heritage remains a living, breathing practice. We invite you to join us as we honour the past and stitch the future together.

Step away from the city’s pace and join our open-air stitching circle in the heart of Amsterdam. These monthly sessions are a space to connect with the rich heritage of Palestinian Tatreez while enjoying the natural beauty of the park. Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned stitcher, these sessions are designed to explore the fundamentals of traditional cross-stitch in a supportive community setting.

May Theme: Symbols of Palestine

This month, we explore the specific motifs that have become the visual language of Palestinian identity. We will focus on the traditional symbols that represent our history, our land, and our enduring presence.

This workshop is your space to:

  • Enjoy a relaxing environment: an outdoor setting designed for focus and community connection.

  • Master the basics: Learn the fundamental techniques of traditional cross-stitch, guided by us every step of the way.

  • Explore Palestinian Tatreez art: Learn about this beautiful heritage craft and uncover the deep cultural meanings behind iconic traditional patterns.

  • Craft your own piece: Complete a beautiful, unique item to take home, finishing your work as a framed artwork, Badge/Button Pin or Key chain.

  • Enjoy a Taste of Heritage:

We’ll have a homemade Palestinian Harissa (a traditional semolina and almond cake) ready to enjoy.
